Firefighting Service with Ligonier Twp. VFD #1

Our call areas include: Laughlintown, Rector, Rolling Rock, Waterford, Oakgrove, Oakwood Hills, RK Mellon, Ligonier Valley Middle School, Valley School of Ligonier, Bethlen Home & Communities, Laurel Mountain Borough, SR 271 and SR 30 to the county lines. Over the last 9 years, our department has averaged over 300 calls per year. In 2023 alone, our crew logged over 8500 man hours, in calls, training and fundraisers.

our 2024 Line Officers

Chief Rob Beaufort

Chief Beaufort has been with Ligonier Twp. VFD #1 for 36 years. Rob has held every line officer position and became Chief in 1996. He has held this position for 27 years. Rob is proud to have been able to oversee the efforts of the department to replace every apparatus in their fleet, whick makes certain the community is being served with the newest equipment. Rob enjoys hunting, fishing, camping and kayaking. He is also the owner of Beaufort Services, Inc since 1998.

Assistant Chief Pat Kromel

Assistant Chief Kromel has been with Ligonier Twp. VFD #1 for 37 years. Pat retired from the Department of Corrections in 2019 and owns Patrick's Chimneys. Pat has held numerous positions within the department including 1st LT, 2nd LT and Captain. He has been the department's Assistant Chief for 26 years.

Captain Glenn Cramer

Captain Glenn Cramer has been with Ligonier Twp. VFD #1 for 36 years and has served as Captain for the last 15 years. He is responsible for coordinating training and making certain that our firefighters are always prepared and ready to respond to emergencies. Glenn is semi-retired, currently working at Agway of Ligonier in the warehouse. He was previously employed with Westmoreland County Public Safety (911) for 23 years as a Dispatcher/Supervisor.

1st LT Bob Derk

1st LT. Derk has been with Ligonier Twp. VFD #1 for 33 years and has served as Lieutenant for 2 years. Bob entered the department as a Junior Firefighter at the age of 15. For over 27 years, he has been employed as a law enforcement officer and currently works with a police K9.

2nd LT Mark Ebberts, II

2nd LT. Ebberts has been with Ligonier Twp. VFD #1 for over 15 years, coming through the ranks of our Jr. Firefighter program. This is Mark's 1st year serving as Lieutenant. He currently works for the Commonwealth of PA.
